ISSUE 11
"As we head into December, the weather has taken a real chilly turn and venues up and down the country have switched off and fish have been hard to catch. This is typical for this time of year and believe it or not, it's actually harder for pleasure anglers than it is for match anglers. You see, in matches where there are anglers dotted all around a lake, the fish don't really have anywhere to go to get away from all the disturbance of loads of anglers setting their gear up, boshing in feeders all over the lake etc.
But, when you go pleasure fishing at this time of year, it's the opposite and when the fish hear you on the bank they have a whole lake to scatter in and maybe they won't come back because when it's freezing they generally don't want to eat. It doesn't matter what tasty treats you've got in your feeder to attract them, they will stay where it's quiet. For this issue I'm on the Match Lake at Larford Lakes and the bad news for me is that I've the whole lake to myself and with freezing temperatures, it's going to be a tough one to say the least!"
